Enabling payments and customer reviews for digital products

Enabling additional payment options and customer reviews for your digital products can help reduce friction at checkout, build trust with potential buyers, and improve conversion over time.

With beehiiv, you can offer both Google Pay and Apple Pay to streamline payments and turn on customer reviews so buyers can share feedback after purchasing a product. Reviews appear directly on your product pages and can be managed from your Products dashboard.

In this article, you’ll learn how to enable Apple Pay and customer reviews for digital products, how review requests work, and where to manage submitted reviews. If you’re new to selling digital products on beehiiv, you may want to first review the guides on creating digital products, adding them to your site, and managing digital product orders.


How to enable Apple Pay and customer reviews

Access your digital product settings

  1. Log in to your account and go to Monetize > Products

  2. From the Products panel on the left, click Settings.  

Enable Apple Pay 

  1. Under Payment methods, toggle on Enable Apple Pay

    Changes are automatically saved. Once enabled, eligible buyers will see Apple Pay as a payment option during checkout on their device.

Tech Note: Google Pay doesn’t need to be enabled separately in beehiiv. If a buyer is using an Android device and has Google Pay set up in their device wallet, Google Pay will automatically appear as a payment option during checkout.

Enable customer reviews

  1. Under Reviews, choose how you’d like to handle incoming reviews. All changes are saved automatically.
  • Auto-accept reviews: Automatically approves and displays all submitted reviews on your product page.

If you don’t enable auto-accept, select Send review request emails, then configure the following options:

  • Timing of review request:
    Choose when review request emails are sent — Immediately after purchase, 24 hours after order is redeemed, or 48 hours after order is redeemed.
  • Default sort order:
    Choose how reviews appear on your product page — Highest rating first, Lowest rating first, Oldest first, or Latest first.


Where to manage your customer reviews 

Once customers begin submitting reviews, you can manage them from the Reviews section in your Products dashboard.

Each review includes:

  • Product name
  • Subscriber
  • Rating
  • Comment
  • Review status

You can filter reviews by product or rating, and switch between the All, Pending, Accepted, and Rejected tabs.

Click the 3 dots menu for any review to select from View Details, View on website, Reject, or Delete. 


How to customize the look of your reviews page

You can customize how customer reviews appear on your product pages directly in the Website Builder.

From the Website Builder, navigate to your Product page, then click on the Product Reviews block to view and update its available styling options in the right panel.

Within the Product Reviews block, you can:

  • Choose whether to display ratings, rating bars, and written reviews.
  • Hide specific review elements if you’d prefer a simpler layout.

You can also highlight your product rating near the price. To do this, insert the Rating block above your price on the canvas.


If you don’t see a Product reviews or Rating block on your page, access the + Insert new block menu from the left panel and add it to your Product page manually.


FAQs about payments and reviews for digital products

    Who can leave a review for a digital product?
    Only customers who have purchased the digital product can submit a review.
    Can I moderate reviews before they appear on my product page?
    Yes. If you don’t enable Auto-accept reviews, submitted reviews will remain pending until you review and approve or reject them.
    Can I change how reviews are sorted on my product page?
    Yes. You can choose the default sort order for reviews, including highest rating, lowest rating, newest, or oldest when setting up your Reviews page in the Website Builder.
    Where can I view and manage submitted reviews?
    All reviews can be managed from the Reviews section of your Products dashboard, where you can filter, accept, reject, or delete reviews.
    Will enabling reviews affect existing product pages?
    No. Reviews will only appear once they’re submitted and accepted. You can also control how and where reviews are displayed using the Product reviews and Ratings blocks in the website builder.
